Gaining HoM Rewards on Trial Account
Is it possible to start the free trial and start earning HoM Rewards (I know I won't be able to do much, just running through the campaign or whatever), and then upgrading the account to a Trilogy / EotN account to continue with this?
If so, will there be any draw backs for me trying this? |

You can start to run through the campaigns, yes, and then just upgrade the account, but you're not going to get much done in that amount of time.

Cheers EtherealSkys. I'm just wanting to try the trial initially to see if I'll be able to work towards the rewards. As in if I enjoy the gameplay and things
I've started a Ranger anyway. Figured I may as well choose that seen as I'll need to capture Black Moa or whatever I won't be stuck trying to level in Prophecies doing it this way either, will I? |

A trial account isnt on for that long - i think its 10hrs or something close to that - best to get all parts on a new account.
Rangers are not the only chrs to be able to cap pets - any profession with ranger as 2nd profession can cap them , even heros can cap them as well |

Rangers are pretty bad atm, (possibly the worse profession,) so if you're only playing one to get a pet, I recommend you choose another profession - as you can get pets on any profession later in the game.
And while I suppose you can "work towards the rewards", in 10 hours the only thing you can do really is try to complete some of the first campaign, which isn't particularly much. Most HoM rewards are expensive, and require extensive farming. And no, starting with a trial account will not hinder you in anyway. |

Ah. I probably should change my profession then!
Thanks again though guys. As far as I understand, the Trial lasts for 14 days too. But a maximum of 10 hours per day |

I started with the trial, bought the Game of the Year edition of Prophecies off of Steam about 5 hours into my playtime, then bought the Trilogy (which added Factions & Nightfall to my existing Prophecies) and then bought EotN. It was worth every penny I spent - which was more than it costs now. Love this game! |

I was thinking 140 hours was a long trial period I'll finish getting it downloaded tonight and probably just upgrade to the Trilogy and in the future EotN when I reach Level 10. Now I need to decide on the class I want to play. Ritualist sounds pretty awesome ^_^ Edit: Done! Prophecies, Faction and Nightfall get! Last edited by Makaseru; Mar 01, 2012 at 10:18 AM // 10:18.. |

I obviously don't agree on rangers being bad (ranger is my main and I have 3 ranger chars) but obviously unlocking pets is not a valid reason to choose a class, just choose the one you like the most, you can complete all content with any of them without problems at all.
Also keep into account that for assassin and ritualist you have to start from factions which is pretty hard as a starter. But totally up to you. |

Will I not be able to create the Ritualist, and then move to Prophecies? Or do you have to get past a certain point before you can move between campaigns?

Yes you can that (you can move between campaigns when you completed the "tutorial area", pretty soon in factions) but a Riatualist will have very few to do in prophecies: no skills or armors for factions/nightfall exclusive professions there...while prophecies by default gives a lot of free skills. Also, you'll be losing pre-searing part. But if you do it for the titles only, I guess it can do.

It is possible though to buy eotn at a later stage and then display the monuments. I recomend getting eotn though as heroes and skills from the expansion can be of great help. |

As for the trial account thing... you will barely have enough time to make it to the Hall of Monuments, let alone have enough time to fill it out. Your best bet would be to just buy a trilogy account and upgrade it with eye of the north and work on it from there. If you do buy an account I will gladly answer any questions you may have about the game and my In-game name is Master Archer Nente. (Note, I get PM'd a lot so please tell my that you are answering this guru thread.) Welcome to Guild Wars! |

@GODh/Kendil: Yeah, I will be picking up EotN as soon as I hit Level 10 probably. Although I may just finish Factions and try reach 20 before the end (not sure if I'll reach 20 before the end of it).
@Master Archer Nente: I have bought the Trilogy now, so I'm no longer on the Trail. I created a Ritualist and managed to get to Level 7. |

In that case, awesome!
I've just realised that I we don't have an Auction House. Hunting down these minis is going to be a pain! I assume a lot of folk use http://www.gwauctions.org/ and the likes? |
